Smart Home within reach
December 9th 2010, Košice – RWE IT Slovakia s.r.o. (RWE IT) in Košice cooperates on a project thanks to which the households may save
up to 12% of energy costs a year. Smart Home is a software for an intelligent automation of households based on a wireless principle.
It enables the regulation of heating and electric devices by means
of a computer, the so called smart phones or remote controls.

According to Olaf Baumann, managing director of RWE IT Slovakia, the company is planning to hire other 150 employees until the end of 2012. “In Košice, we have created the Centre of Excellence for Testing for the whole RWE Group. Our employees work on international projects, mostly for companies engaged in energy markets. We, among others, also managed to meet the requirements of the European Commission regarding the regulation
of energy market in Europe or to develop a software
for the usage of electric cars,“ Baumann said.
RWE plans to introduce the Smart Home software in the German market at the beginning of the next year. It does not only have a positive impact on energetic efficiency, but on the environment as well. Thanks to energy effectiveness, the
CO2 emissions will be reduced at the same time. Besides the RWE company, Microsoft, ELV and Designaffairs participate in the project as well.
