Symposium of Test Centre in Kosice
In mid-December 2010 a symposium took place in Kosice on the topic Software testing. “One of the main goals of the event was also to get
to know each other even better and to be willing to share the know-how
of the employees, who work in the area of software testing in Kosice,”
says Dr. Jozef Vojtko, Test Centre leader at RWE IT Slovakia.
The employees of the Test Centre test primarily software for the application area, particularly for the departments Upstream, Corporate and Downstream Solutions. “Our aim at the conference was to explain how the professional program check-up works and what methods we use for it,” Mr. Vojtko explains the reason for the symposium.
The symposium had two parts. First, five speeches were given in front of the plenum. “Testing & Quality” or “10 Testing Principles” were some of the topics.
In the second part, five parallel workshops were offered, at which various test philosophies, test automation and other diverse scientific knowledge relating
to the topic were discussed. After 2 hours of working together every team presented its results.
“The conference has provided all participants with a comprehensive overview of our work,” Jozef Vojtko sums up the course of the event.
Comments of the participants
Kamil Sagan (6 years at Test Centre Kosice)
"It was one of those days of the year, that we'll be always recalling
with joy. It was amazing to listen to the colleagues how creatively they approached to their presentations and workshops. Department presentations involved plenty of interesting information and their diverse form ensured, that we didn't have a chance to be bored, not for a moment. Workshop cooperation in the groups were very inspiring and creative despite the time pressure (or thanks to it). Overall it was a pleasantly spent afternoon in a circle of colleagues
in an informal, but still productive atmosphere with an informal ending, where it was time dedicated to get to know each other better."
Robert Soffa (1.5 years at Test Centre Kosice, Test Developer)
"For me, the symposium was a new experience. It was in a style of scientific or professional conferences and additionally we enjoyed the very friendly atmosphere. I was positively surprised by the results of working groups at the end of the symposium."
Maria Andrejkova (1 year at Test Centre Kosice, Lead Process Expert)
"During the whole day we wanted to get to know each other, particularly from the work side. The presentations of every team were interesting and everyone described his/her daily tasks in a comprehensible way. We also had a lot of fun and the overall organisation was 'smashing'. I like my colleagues and so I could enjoy the whole day to the fullest!"
